Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday is very important to us at St Stephen’s, because the battle for Hong Kong ended here in December 1941, and St Stephen’s was the internment camp for Allied civilians for the rest of the war.  This year is the 70th anniversary of those events. After our church service we held a short memorial service in Stanley Military Cemetery, and lay poppy wreaths . For more photos click here

60th Anniversary

In March 2010 we celebrated the 60th anniversary of St Stephen’s Chapel, 1950-2010. Archbishop Paul Kwong presided at our Anniversary Eucharist, when we packed 200 people into the chapel. 20 diocesan clergy joined the service too. It was a wonderful celebration, members of the cathedral choir and our own choir almost raising the roof as they sang Parry’s anthem ‘I was glad’. One of the guests told me afterwards ‘It sounded as if all the angels were singing!’ The service was followed by a splendid anniversary dinner in the school dining hall.

An Evening of Wine and Wisdom.

In 2009 Sunday School performed ‘Jonah Man Jazz’, the story of Jonah and the whale told in songs and acting.
